Without using any fats or oils, this digital-controlled infrared tabletop oven quickly and easily cooks meat, poultry, and fish, while keeping them moist on the inside and crisp and browned on the outside. Compared to a 3500-watt conventional oven, the 1500-watt infrared oven cooks food up to 50-percent faster and saves 85-percent more energy.

Its patented trio of cooking methods includes conduction to apply heat directly to food, convection to circulate heat around food, and infrared radiant heat to penetrate food, cooking from the inside out. This is a review of my brand new Model 20236 NuWave Oven purchased for $132.00 (including free shipping). This oven is SIGNIFICANTLY UPGRADED from the OBSOLETE model that Amazon is offering (Model 20201) in that it offers digital controls as well as an additional cooking rack and capacity enhancing extender which is NOT offered on the Amazon offered model.

I received the digital NuWave Model 20236 on 20-May. It was well packaged. I immediately wanted to test my main desire for it, the ability to correctly cook a frozen solid 2″ thick Porterhouse prime Angus steak purchased at one of the finest butchers in my area (the Kroger custom butcher shop of Wilmington, OH).

Following the instructions, I used the 4″ high rack, placing it into the NuVave so that the rack side faced up (for some idiotic reason, the instructions have you putting the rack in UPSIDE-DOWN!!!), following the picture of the assembled NuWave on the manual’s front cover. I found that the oven was easy to assemble. ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL’S SUGGESTION FOR EASY CLEANUP, I COVERED THE BOTTOM DRIP PAN WITH REYNOLD’S ALUMINUM FOIL.

After placing the frozen-solid steak into the oven, I followed the cooking instructions for a 2″ thick frozen steak and set the timer for 45 minutes. I was prepared to turn the steak over as soon as the digital timer display showed 23 minutes. I seasoned the steak with pepper, seasoned salt, and garlic powder on both sides.

Following the above procedure, I turned the steak over at 23 minutes. There was an attractive amount of searing of the top of the steak at 23 minutes and the steak was almost totally thawed.

By the time that the 45 minute timer had finished (remember to press START again after turning the steak over at 23 minutes!!!!), the steak was perfectly cooked to medium-rare/medium and seared beautifully on both sides. Being that the Porterhouse that I cooked in the NuWave was well-trimmed of fat (but well marbled), I did not have significant fat runoff into my aluminum-foil covered drip pan. The plastic dome was also free of spattering fat, I wiped it down with a paper towel and Formula 409 to clean it. The 4″ high grill (kind of thin and fragile, but okay if you treat it with respect) found its way into the dishwasher for cleaning.

My results as a first time user were absolutely PERFECT. The steak was well-cooked with consistency in cooking that was quite excellent. The steak appeared well-seared and was appetizing visually as well as tasting wonderful. The NuWave Oven Model 20236 joins the Jack LaLanne Juicer as the only info-mercial items that I’ve seen that actually perform as advertised and even surpass the info-mercial claims. I am thrilled with my purchase.

I really didn’t want this item, but my friend gave it to me as a gift, and the first time I used it, I knew I would never want to be without one again! This oven cooks Great! And maybe the best thing of all, it is so Clean to cook in it! So much better than having grease all over your regular cook stove. I mean, it hardly gets dirty at all! I love the way everything comes out, and especially whole chickens. Every woman should have one!

I received the analog NuWave oven for Christmas and have been using it ever since. It is an excellent product and works as advertised (of course all the ads are for the NuWave Oven Pro which has digital controls). It is easy to operate; just turn the dials to their proper settings and let the NuWave cook your food.

With the NuWave, you can do just about everything that you can do in an oven. Now for larger turkeys, you may need the extender ring which is mentioned in the infomercials for the digital NuWave.

Clean-up is a breeze. Everything -- with the obvious exception of the electronic part -- can be put in the sink and washed with hot soapy water. I recommend hand-drying everything before reassembly.

With the NuWave, I re-heated leftover Thanksgiving ham on Christmas Day straight from the freezer, set the power setting to HI and the timer for 30 minutes, and in 30 minutes the ham was as tender and juicy as it was on Thanksgiving Day. I have also made French fries in the NuWave. This results in healthier fries because French fries are usually deep-fried in artery-clogging trans fats; with the NuWave, you can use a healthier oil -- such as extra-virgin olive oil -- to drizzle on the fries, and you can also add some chili powder and turn your French fries into chili fries.

The liner pan is excellent for roasting and sauteeing veggies such as onions, carrots, and even diced potatoes. The cooking tray doubles as a one-inch cooking surface and a four-inch cooking surface.

The NuWave even cooks frozen foods much faster than conventional cooking. There is absolutely no pre-heating required. Cooking frozen meats without thawing is a great way to reduce the risk of food-borne illness. However, you should still wash hands with warm soapy water anytime you handle raw meats.

So far I have cooked French fries, tofu scramble, a complete salmon dinner, and even store-bought veggie burgers with a side of diced onions and diced potatoes. And all of my foods have come out perfect. The fries are crispy. The tofu scramble is tasty with its combination of eggs, cheese, and firm tofu. The salmon dinner came out perfectly; the salmon was flaky and tasty, and the baby carrots were great as well. And the veggie burgers were wonderful, and adding the diced onions and diced potatoes as a topping gave it even more of a great flavor.
I love this so much that I have decided to retire my George Foreman grill. It really is that great. Yummy Yummy Yummy! The Nuwave Oven is a Must have for healthy eaters.
